Audition information:
Director Laurel Smith seeks the following characters:
Mr. Alonso Smith: Fortyish, father, lawyer. Somewhat uptight but good hearted. Sings.
Mrs. Anna Smith: Fortyish, good and loving mother. Sings.
Lon Smith: Good looking 19 year old. Oldest child. Princeton freshman. Sings and dances.
Rose Smith: Beautiful and chic eldest daughter. About 18. Too stubborn for her own good. Sings, dances.
Ester Smith: Lively and attractive daughter. About 17. Bright, crisp and mischievous. Please DO NOT imitate Judy Garland. Sings, dances.
Agnes Smith*: Tomboyish 12 year old. Sings, dances.
Tootie Smith*: Bright 6 year old. I will be casting this part older. Preferably no younger than 8. Sings, dances.
Grandpa Prophater: Mrs. Smith's father, a Civil War veteran, very wise and kind Sings, waltzes.
Katie: The Smith's cook and housemaid. Irish, About 50. Energetic, bright, full of vim and blarney. Sings, dances.
John Truitt: Handsome, athletic boy next door. Esther's love interest. About 19. Sings, dances.
Warren Sheffield: Rose's suitor. An eligible young man from a rich family. Spends most of his time getting shoved away, but he persists. Sings, dances.
Lucille Ballard: A sophisticated and charming "eastern" young lady that Warren Sheffield uses to make Rose jealous. Lon's love interest. Dances. Will double in the chorus.
Eve: Lon's date for his going away party. Southern bellish. Dances. Will double in the chorus.
Postman: Middle aged Irish man. Non-singing. Non-dancing.
Motorman: Trolley car driver. Non-singing. Non-dancing.
Clinton Badger: Comic dancer, bumbling young man at the ball. (Esther's just deserts for a mean prank gone awry!) Will double in chorus.
Pewee Drummond: Comic dancer, bumbling young man at the ball. (Esther's just deserts for a mean prank gone awry!) Will double in chorus.
Sidney Purvis: Comic dancer, bumbling young man at the ball. (Esther's just deserts for a mean prank gone awry!) Will double in chorus.
Ensemble, teens and Twenties: Trolley passengers, guests at Lon's party, ballroom couples, world's fair.
Adults: Opening tableau, carolers, world's fair.
