Pa-nache (puh-nahsh), noun, a grand or flamboyant manner; verve; style; flair; distinctive and stylish elegance....Harry Baldwin, an artist who drinks too much and gambles too much, has his weekly poker game interrupted by one Kathleen Trafalgar, a cultured "society" woman who wants something of Harry's, his personalized license plate "P-A-N-A-C-H-E" because she feels her wealthy businessman husband has it, and how could a guy like Harry possibly have it? She offers to purchase the license plate, but Harry, sensing there's more to this than meets the eye, refuses, largely because he feels he indeed, does have "panache."
Kathleen is not dissuaded, and continues to pay Harry visit after visit, always seeking the license plate, until they become friends, and in the process learn more about each other's worlds than they ever intended to.
